Schools in the south of England - are you in need of ecology?!

At the moment in the UK, ecology is getting a raw deal in the school curriculum. Biology fieldwork is dying! All this at a time when, more than ever, we need scientists and citizens with an understanding and appreciation for the wonder and importance of ecology - the science of life on Earth. 

I'm currently working with the British Ecological Society's "Ecological Ambassadors" scheme to support the teaching of ecology at A-level in UK schools, which involves guiding fieldwork practicals and talking to school groups about the opportunities for studying ecology at university. As an "Ecological Ambassador", I'm determined to show the next generation of ecologists how amazing, bizarre, wild, and important ecology is - especially for schools where perhaps the opportunities aren't in their favour.
